RE: Interview with a Gunfighter

Dr. Piazza

First off - WOW!
I am amazed at how all the pieces (of preparedness) fell into place for this man.  How long had he been carrying for protection of himself and family and at age 70 had the weapon available at the crucial time?  I hurt for the man for having to experience the situation, but he and his wife are ALIVE to experience it.  Using the heart attack scenario probably took focus and attention off his hand reaching for the weapon.  I am so glad to see law abiding citizens prevail over criminals trying to take what…

Interview with a Gunfighter

Although I would not recommend that you ever sit down for an interview with the news media after killing two armed home invaders, the following unedited news video will teach you many important lessons.

The most important lessons you will glean from this personal, lethal encounter report include:

  • Mindset is everything. (Note what he said to himself when he made the decision to fight.)
  • Training is only second to mindset. (Note what he says about his training.)
  • Action always beats reaction. (As long as you hit with your first shot.)
  • In a Gunfight, Rule # 1 is HAVE A GUN. (Note what he…

Impressions

Dr. Piazza,

Let me start by saying WOW!!!!!

I am very impressed by your training facilities and courses but more importantly by your stand on our rights and gun ownership.

I have recently been getting a lot more active in the gun world, I have not had much experience in this area aside from the occasional pheasant hunt/trap shoot with family or the Boy Scouts program. However, having just been blessed with a baby in august I have become excessivly more concerned in the safety of my family. I’m affraid that this country is becoming a more violent place every…

DOJ Instructor Writes In Response to Gun Training Reports

Dr. Piazza;

I am a twenty year veteran of Law Enforcement.

I work for the United States Department of Justice.

I am a firearms instructor, less lethal, tactical instructor and tactical team member.

I have been trained by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and frequently go to “schools”.

I am not saying I am the end all, or a gun maven in any way, shape or form.

I merely wish to describe, that I have been around the block a couple of times.

I must tell you, with my first two gun training reports read, I am thoroughly impressed!…

If Cops Can’t Hit in a Gunfight, How Good Are You Going to Be?

Last week, I shared a video with you that demonstrated what happens when you don’t focus on the front sight and allow fear to creep into your mind during a gunfight.

I also shared with you the no B.S. secret to having courage under fire.

This week, I have an article that may shock you. It illustrates how poor your performance in a gun fight will be if you do not adopt the Color Code of Mental Awareness as your own, develop the Combat Mindset, and secure the level of training we provide at Front Sight…

Here is an except from…

Nursing Student and Gun Owner

Dr. Piazza,

I am 22 year old nursing student.

I own a Walther P99 in 9mm with a concealed weapons permit.

Thank you so much for your free gun training reports!

I have started dry practice after reading the 3rd report.

I don’t think I fall into the group that have built bad habits from repetitive live practice because I rarely shoot my gun (mainly due to the cost of ammunition). I’ve maybe shot 25 rounds through my Walther  in the past 2 years. I definitely plan and can’t wait to attend a training course at your facility soon.

I…

Heart Felt Thanks

Dr.Piazza,

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for these news letters, you see I do carry a weapon as part of my job and make contact with any number of people who could or would infact harm or kill me if they thought it was warranted. I spent 18 months in country in Iraq and Afghanistan getting shot at every day and I did learn at close quarters how important the front sight on your weapon is to win the fire fight. Sidearm. shotgun or rifle the result is the same use the front sight picture and you…

Letter from the Mailbag about Proper Mindset

Dr. Piazza,

Your words of insight and gun wisdom ‘re: being mind set prepared’, have not been repeated often enough to be instilled  into the subconscious of the law enforcement community and the lawful gun carriers of the world.  When your admonitions have been absorbed by these lawful carriers, the world will become safer.

Your advice is a ‘front sight’ to keep on the ‘target’ of staying alive through a stressful situation.

C.H.

Response to Courage Under Fire

Dr. Piazza,

First off, let me wish you a Merry Christmas!  I thoroughly enjoy your blog and newsletter, and glean as much info as I can from your writings.  I have actually put several of your manuals on my Christmas wish list that went out to family and friends.

Reading your blog entry, “Courage Under Fire” hit home.  As a law enforcement officer, seeing the video again (I can’t count how many times I have seen it) of the shootout where Game Warden Justin Hurst lost his life just puts knots in my stomach.  I try to never second guess…
