Dear Dr. Piazza,
I just wanted to let you know that I sent a letter to the New York City Police Department that endorses the Front Sight Institute. It seemed to be the right thing to do after reading your training report number 10 that highlighted the actual hits out of 100 rounds fired in average Police shootings. There was a recent police shooting where Officers discharged 50 rounds and killed an unarmed man. The Department hired the Rand Corporation to study it’s training methods. IMHO, the money would have been better spent sending their officers to Front Sight Institute.

What follows is a copy of his letter:
Dear Commissioner Kelly,
Re: RAND Corporation
Sir, I am a Coast Guard Qualified Auxiliary Firearms Coach for CG Sector New York and a member of the Front Sight Firearms Training Institute.. Our Auxiliary team members volunteer our time, experience and expertise to assist the Coast Guard Gunners Mates in keeping their members qualified and proficient with their firearms.
My humble honest opinion on the recent discharge incidents in your Department is that some of your men were not mentally prepared to shoot.
They were reacting to rapidly changing events so therefore were not in control of the situation.
I respectfully request that you visit the webpage of Front Sight Firearms Training Institute and review some of their training methods.
Their web page is http://www.frontsight.com
Sir, this is not a sales pitch, I just feel if you carry a firearm, you need the best training possible.
Respectfully,
Alan Yuen
Thank you, Alan. I certainly hope that it generates improvement!
