finds gun training reports inSIGHTful
March 29th, 2007
Dr. Piazza,
So far I have thouroughly enjoyed reading your gun training newsletters. I find them “inSIGHTful” and and down to earth.
In response to your invitation to send you quotes that we think may be significant in relation to Front Sight and gun ownership, please allow me to offer the following two:
“Learning is not attained by chance;
it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence.”
-Abigail Adams.
And“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”
-Sir Edmund Burke
I am confident that the implications of these two quotes are obvious to you. The first one speaks volumes about a gun owners responsibility to ensure that he knows how to use a gun properly, and when to use his weapon. Or any lethal force for that matter.The second speaks to our obligations as parents, neighbors, Americans and as human beings to stand up to evil.
AsĀ a high school history teacher I spend an entire class each semester discussing these quotes and what they mean with my students, with much success. I teach violent students ages 16-21, so as you can imagine I have a unique perspective, as do my students.
I hope that these quotes are useful to you, please feel free to let me know if they prove to have an impact for you or if you decide to incorporate them into your lectures. I would be interested in knowing.
Sincerely,
William
Thank you, William. Well spoken. We’ve posted those quotes here exactly as you sent them to us, so you can tell everyone what you’ve said to us.
