Hi Dr. Piazza,
I just finished reading your 10th news letter. They are the very best I’ve ever read in my more then seven decades. Over the years I’ve read many training manuals, watched all of them on TV as well as CD’s etc. All have some neat things as well as some that will get you killed.
I have a reason for writing you beyond bragging on what you’re doing… let me explain.
About 45 years ago I pinned on my first badge. Before I was done, I had carried one as a City Policeman, a Deputy Sheriff, a State Trooper and a Chief of Police. Back in those days, training was almost non existent. However myself and another Trooper trained together in our off time almost every day. We made up…

What is the best handgun cartridge and bullet design for you to carry on the street?
My standard response to this question is to carry the largest caliber, with the heaviest bullet, loaded as hot as you can handle it in order to deliver two, quick center of mass shots… and have the skills to be able to follow up with a precise shot to the cranio-ocular cavity (between the eyebrows and moustache) when the first two thoracic cavity hits don’t stop an extremely dedicated opponent.
This week’s blog post brings bullet design theory, ballistic gelatin testing, and the realities (and variables) of shooting a dedicated human opponent all together for your experience and education…
The first photo I want you study is the terminal ballistics of various handgun cartridges when shot into…

Response to Free Gun Training Reports :
Dr. Piazza,
The reports are super.
Full of good practical information and good common sense. I look forward with anticipation to each of them and review the contents religiously.
The times that we live in are hard.
The last report I have just finished reading on the moral and ethical matters of using a gun in a real gunfight was so thought provoking and simply just good stuff.
Keep up the good work and again a heartfelt thank you for your generosity.
Frank

Dr. Piazza,
As a retired Sheriff’s Sgt., SWAT Team Leader, firearms instructor/rangermaster and 2nd Amendment advocate, I am extremely impressed with your Front Sight training curriculum and your personal philosophy.
I do plan to attend your basic courses and would also be very interested in a train the trainer course. I am looking to update my skills and teach in the local police academy(s).
I do shoot “Action Pistol” at our local Rifle & Pistol Club and have been very impressed with the rapid improvements made by the shooters who have attended your courses.
I find your “Gun-Training” reports RIGHT-ON and very beneficial to improving my shooting skills. Hopefully I can soon find the time & money to become a member of your outstanding facility.
Keep up the good work & the fight to educate…

Dr. Piazza,I just watched the requested Front Sight DVD that you sent to me in the mail and all I can say is…WOW.
I am a pretty cynical person and these days it takes a lot to get me fired up and motivated to get off of the couch and act.
After watching the DVD however, I can give nothing but the most sincere praise for what you are doing with Front Sight.
I was blown away and at the same time reinvigorated by seeing what you have accomplished with your company. I am interested in courses and VERY interested in membership for myself as well as my family. Again, so impressed!
You give the impression of a true patriot, not just someone who spews rhetoric for the cameras, but someone who acts forthrightly…

Dr. Piazza,
I look forward everyday to my dose of hard reality with Front Sight email. I attended the four day defensive handgun course a couple of years ago and I still rave about it to any who will listen! If I find anyone who has any interest at all in being safer in everyday life, I give them the rundown on my great experience in Vegas with you fine folks.
I will continue to sing the praises of Front Sight and try to send any and all to your fine ranges.
Looking forward to my chance at Front Sight again,
J.C.

Dear Dr. Piazza,
I sincerely am enjoying your very professional insights into personal defense! I know you could easily charge for the reports alone for anyone serious about defending themselves against the very real threat of a criminal attack against them or their loved ones.
I am that type of person having worked in law enforcement for a few years on a rather part time basis, yet long enough however to understand the type of animals ( some liberals would call the “unfortunate” or “misguided” victims of society ) that are out there in our own backyard so to speak just waiting for the opportunity to pounce on an unaware or inattentive victim. I am constantly aware of my surroundings and am always in the condition yellow mode unless prompted by the situation…

Dr. Piazza,
I have been enjoying your news letters, ordered a dry practice manual, and even tried some of your secrets on the shooting range.
I’ve yet to own a gun but your information is helping me change my opinion about gun ownership. I’m beginning to change my wife’s opinion some and she agreed to join me in a local handgun safety glass. If you knew my wife and myself better, you would realize what a great feat you have acheived.
Impressive service and marketing!
Cheers,
Jay M.

Here is an intense, real life example of someone making several flagrant mistakes in their 911 call to report two men burglarizing a neighbor’s home.
The 911 dispatcher does a fantastic job of counseling and advising the caller, but the situation escalates into the caller shooting and killing the two burglars as they left his neighbor’s home.
The shooter’s actions resulted in a firestorm of public outcry from all sides of the issue, forcing a Grand Jury to ultimately determine the fate of the shooter.
First, listen to the actual 911 call and then I will discuss the event and the actions of the shooter. You will need to turn up your speakers so you can make out all of the conversations.

Points to consider from this 911 call:
1. It took over 7 minutes…
