Response from Retired Police Officer
February 13th, 2009
Dr. Piazza,
I was a law enforcement officer for over 14 years, and I must admit that I was totally amazed to find out that the vast majority of them are far from being qualified to protect themselves, little alone the general public.
I don’t say this to be harsh, but the stats on police shootings back this up. It is scary when one really stops to think about it.
Some of my fellow officers often accused me of looking for a fight because I was always ready…
As you well know, the truth was that I was looking to avoid one if humanly possible, but fully dedicated and prepared to winning it if it was unavoidable.
I have thankfully been able to defuse many situations in my life that could have very easily exploded simply because I was mentally prepared to do what was necessary.
You are one of the few that have convinced me that you really do understand what it takes to survive, and in doing so, being able to defend not only yourself, but those around you at the same time.
Thank you for what you are doing.
You, sir, I sincerely believe, are a True American and I salute you for what you are doing.
Thank you and keep up the good work. You are SAVING lives.
Sincerely,
Jim C.
