Front Sight Mail Bag: Over 55 Episode of Front Sight Challenge
June 26th, 2009
Dr. Piazza,
In your challenge episode 14, Wayne the doctor, got eliminated in the run and gun portion of the competition. He was very good with the shotgun and thought that his age may have worked against him. He expressed the hope to be invited again, perhaps for an “over 55” competition.
If the over 55 competition were to ever happen, I would surely like to be considered. I am nearing 74, but still in pretty good shape. I attended your 4 day training course in December of 2008 and came away from there just a few points shy of “distinguished graduate” with a “Certificate of Achievement”. What an experience—snow, wind, rain and high winds — but the training was excellent and I came away from Frontsight much better prepared to defend myself and my loved ones than I had ever been.
I was a reserve deputy in Ventura County, California, many years ago and thought I was pretty good with my side arm after I won the marksmanship trophy for our class. Frontsight taught me that I was not as good as I thought I was.
Sincerely,
Jerry E.
