Ignatius Piazza: Give That Man a Gun!

Ever since the Columbine High School shooting in Littleton, CO, I have been a very vocal advocate of arming and training teachers to carry a concealed handgun to protect themselves and their students from the cowardly lunatics who continue to target “gun free zones” also know as “disarmed victim zones.”

The only reason these schools, their teachers and students continue to be victims of these hideous crimes is because the perpetrators know there will be no armed resistance.

Last week, another school, just a few miles from Columbine High School, was visited by a man bent on killing children with a rifle.

What saved the Denver, Colorado area from yet another school mass murder spree was the heroic actions of one man… a courageous unarmed man…

Yes, I agree with Dr. David Benke, and wish he could have stopped that shooter before he ever had a chance to fire that first shot.

I wish Dr. David Benke, and the teachers and administrators like him across this great country of ours were armed with a concealed handgun and trained to the levels of skill that would allow them to stop any shooter before he has a chance to fire a first shot.

I salute Dr. David Benke’s courage and his willingness to place himself in grave danger by advancing (unarmed) against a man with a rifle. He is a hero in the truest sense of the word because he placed the safety of his students above his own life and succeeded in his actions to stop a killer.

Shouldn’t Dr. David Benke and similar teachers and administrators be given the trust and training to protect themselves and our children? Shouldn’t they be armed with more than just their own courage and bare hands?

As long as we continue to create “disarmed victim zones” by not allowing teachers with Concealed Carry Permits to carry a gun concealed on campus, our schools will continue to be targeted by deranged cowards bent on shooting children.

Give Dr. David Benke (and those like him) a gun and training!
