Front Sight Mail Bag: Slow Response Time – Feedback
December 2nd, 2010
Dear Dr. Ignatius Piazza
As a Denver area resident, I greatly appreciate your email and web posting on November 9th, 2010 titled Gun Training: My Answer to Slow Police Response
This has been a popular news story here locally and it frustrates me when the video clip of the store owner specifically is repeated many times. Her statement seems to be the segment the local news is concentrating on in order to put pressure on the police department. Unfortunately, the general population has an expectation that the police will respond to 911 calls in time to keep you safe.
You have made it very clear in your blog and gun training reports that this simply is not possible no matter where you live if the attacker is determined. This is why we all need to be ready to defend ourselves and with that goal in mind, I am a first family member of Front Sight.
As a Diamond member (since August – thank you for the incredible offer by the way), I wish that your wisdom and common sense was shared by many more people including this store owner and her employees. This expectation of someone else defending you at a moments notice simply can not work and it needs to return to the expectation of our forefathers that each of us have the responsibility and ability to defend ourselves and the people around us when it is needed.
Keep up the great work. If any organization can change the image of gun ownership within a generation, it is Front Sight and that is why I stand with you.
