Front Sight’s Tuesday Blog: No More Police Incompetence!

May 21st, 2013

A beautiful college girl, being held hostage, is shot and killed by a New York Cop confronted with what is being described by Associated Press as, “the most harrowing decision in law enforcement: choosing the split second moment when the risks are so high you must pull the trigger.”

And PULL he did. He not only pulled the trigger, he mashed it, yanked it and jerked the trigger. EIGHT times as a matter of fact, with one of those trigger pulls resulting in the death of the hostage, 21 year old Andrea Robello, a college student at Hofstra University in Long Island, NY.

Of course Andrea Robello’s death comes on the heels of a recent incident where New York City cops injured nine innocent bystanders with their lack of marksmanship skills:

Before you start blaming the individual officers involved in these injuries and deaths, understand that when an officer is confronted with a hostage situation everything boils down to training. In this case, a routine head shot to end the confrontation could not be accomplished due to LACK of training. And it is lack of training, not a “harrowing” situation that caused this tragedy. And it is lack of training in the police academy as well as lack of ongoing marksmanship and tactical training throughout law enforcement agencies that result in these tragic events.

The problem with a lack of PROPER training starts at the top of the agency and filters down.

Here is an example of lack of proper training right out of the mouth of Michelle Galietta, a professor of psychology at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice quoted in the Associated Press article:

“The big question is, how do you know, when someone’s pointing a gun at you, whether you should keep talking to them, or shoot?” said Michele Galietta, a professor of psychology at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice who helps train police officers. “That’s what makes the job of an officer amazingly difficult.”

Really? There is no “big question” when someone is pointing a gun at you, especially if they have a hostage. There is only one response, an immediate response that should be trained into every officer. The proper response is to focus on the front sight and prrreeeesssss the trigger for a surprise trigger break, delivering a single round to the cranio-ocular cavity of the hostage taker. End of encounter. Simple result is a dead hostage taker and an unharmed hostage.

It is not an “amazingly difficult job” it is not even an amazingly difficult shot. All it takes is law enforcement administrators who UNDERSTAND that due to the stress of a life and death situation, an officer is only going to be about HALF as good as his last marksmanship training session. THEREFORE, officers must be REGULARLY trained toward perfection. Passing an annual “requalification” with barely a 70% score on a target that allows any hit on it to count, does not qualify as regularly training toward perfection.

You cannot expect a police officer or citizen to perform well in a lethal confrontation, especially a hostage situation unless they are PROPERLY trained and train REGULARLY.

THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. Front Sight trains citizens to accomplish this task each and every day of the week. It all starts with proper, combat mindset training and then follows with precise marksmanship training.

Here are a few examples of the THOUSANDS of students we train each week. Watch these Front Sight trained citizens handle their hostage situation. Take note of their perfect hostage taker headshots! With Front Sight’s combat mindset training and marksmanship training toward perfection, to stop a hostage taker only take one deliberate shot.

And it you want to see how we train private citizens to shoot so much better than the average law enforcement officer, follow one of our students, who had never shot a gun before attending Front Sight, through a Four Day Defensive Handgun Course. Make sure you watch to the very end when she delivers 3 perfect hostage head shots against time pressure.

Again, dealing with a hostage taker all starts with the proper combat mindset training so there is no “difficult question” running through your head when the decision to immediately shoot is needed and the immediate decision to deliver a precise shot to the cranio-ocular cavity (between the eye brows and moustache) is accomplished by marksmanship training.

It bothers me greatly to continually see the videos and read stories demonstrating the lack of proper mindset and marksmanship training for those people we place in harm’s way.

Andrea Robello’s death is another tragedy in a long list of tragedies that could have been avoided had the officer involved been Front Sight trained.

Allow me to help prevent another tragedy.

I wish I could give every law enforcement officer and every member of our military and every responsible citizen in the our country a free course at Front Sight. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to give everyone in America a free course.

But I can set aside a limited number of our $1,000 Two Day Defensive Handgun, Two Day Tactical Shotgun, and Two Day Practical Rifle courses and allow you, and anyone who is wise enough to grab them before they are gone, the one-time opportunity to purchase as many of them as you want for only $50 per course.

That is correct. I cannot afford to give you a $1,000 Two Day Defensive Handgun, Two Day Tactical Shotgun, and Two Day Practical Rifle course for free but I can allow you, and anyone who is wise enough to grab them before they are gone, the one-time opportunity to purchase as many of them as you want for only $50 per course.

The certificates are transferable and have no expiration date so you can give them away or attend at any time in the future.

I am doing this to be part of the solution so all law enforcement, military, and responsible citizens have the opportunity to be Front Sight trained. If you want to develop the proper combat mindset and train toward perfection, then it all starts with making an immediate decision and pressing the trigger to grab as many courses as you want before they are all taken.

Here is how it works…

Purchase AS MANY, Two Day Defensive Handgun Courses, and as many Two Day Tactical Shotgun Courses, and as many Two Day Practical Rifle Courses as you wish for ONLY $50 EACH.

That is correct. As many $1,000, Two Day Courses for Defensive Handgun, Tactical Shotgun and Practical Rifle as you wish for $50.00 EACH. This is not a typo. $50.00 each.

I will deliver the electronic course certificates immediately into your Front Sight account upon purchase and you can use them yourself or transfer them to family and friends.

I have set aside as many of these $1,000 courses at $50 as I can afford to offer. As you can imagine, this is a very limited offer so jump on this immediately and purchase as many as you think you will need now and for the future because I do not plan on offering this again to you.

Purchase as many $1,000, Two Day Courses for Defensive Handgun, Tactical Shotgun and Practical Rifle as you wish for $50.00 EACH. Go here to purchase: https://www.frontsight.com/patriot/certificates.asp

I will deliver the electronic course certificates immediately into your Front Sight account upon purchase and you can use them yourself or transfer them to family and friends.

Thanks for your participation in Front Sight’s phenomenal success. Become one of us. A Front Sight trained American!
