Front Sight Mailbag: No Formal Training to Competence

Dear Dr. Piazza,
Thanks for asking about my firearms course at Front Sight. I am really glad I took the Four Day Defensive Handgun training. I went from having no formal training and minimal knowledge on handguns to feeling competent at safe handling, proper shooting technique, and how I might handle an immediate threat in various situations. The classroom time was short and to the point. It was full of very important information on the personal and legal side of using a firearm in a threatening situation as well instruction on how to respond to people whom seem threatening but their intention is unclear. The range time was amazing. We hit the range the first morning with both dry practice and live firing and it was almost constant instruction and practice for the entire four days. The staff and the facility at Front Sight are top notch. The experience far exceeded my expectations.
