Front Sight Mailbag: Don’t Know the Correct Way to Handle Firearms?
January 21st, 2017
Dear Dr. Piazza,
My message to anyone interested in firearms: If you don’t know the correct way to handle firearms, you are putting yourself and others in danger. You need to take these courses. I highly recommend the class that I took: 4 day defensive handgun. I’m nearly 60 and I corrected some bad unsafe habits on day one. You will have these corrected on day one and the safety is repeated throughout the 4 days so that when you leave, you will not be making those mistakes again. When you show up to your own club, it will be clear to others that you know what you are doing. If you’ve never fired a weapon, this is also a great place to start. I’ve owned firearms all my life. Everyone can learn something and it helps experienced shooters to improve their skills or get reacquainted with those skills if it’s been a long time since they fired a weapon.
