Another Lesson in Disparity of Force… This Time With Positive Results

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Today’s blog is for every Cop and Concealed Weapon Permit Holder who DOES NOT carry their weapon EVERYWHERE they go.

I know there are times when carrying a gun is uncomfortable and a significant inconvenience. Dealing with carrying a weapon in hot weather, while traveling on airlines, enjoying vacation, or exercising is not pleasant, but there is nothing worse than needing a gun and not having one. Shame on you if you are caught without your gun when it is needed to save your life or the lives of your loved ones — especially when you have been granted the right…

A Lesson in Disparity of Force…

Monday, August 4th, 2008

What do you do when confronted with an unarmed adversary?

What do you do when confronted with multiple unarmed adversaries?

Can you shoot unarmed adversaries?

These questions are answered in this week’s blog post by studying another real-life example of what can happen to you at any time, in any place — once again demonstrating the importance of having a concealed weapon and knowing when to use it…

First, I want you to read what the below men did to a good man and his family while at an amusement park. As you read this news report, ask yourself what you would have done…

Terminal Ballistics, Shot Placement, and Tough Adversaries…

Monday, July 28th, 2008

What is the best handgun cartridge and bullet design for you to carry on the street?

My standard response to this question is to carry the largest caliber, with the heaviest bullet, loaded as hot as you can handle it in order to deliver two, quick center of mass shots… and have the skills to be able to follow up with a precise shot to the cranio-ocular cavity (between the eyebrows and moustache) when the first two thoracic cavity hits don’t stop an extremely dedicated opponent.

This week’s blog post brings bullet design theory, ballistic gelatin testing, and the realities…

What NOT To Do When Your Neighbor’s House is Being Burglarized…

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Here is an intense, real life example of someone making several flagrant mistakes in their 911 call to report two men burglarizing a neighbor’s home.

The 911 dispatcher does a fantastic job of counseling and advising the caller, but the situation escalates into the caller shooting and killing the two burglars as they left his neighbor’s home.

The shooter’s actions resulted in a firestorm of public outcry from all sides of the issue, forcing a Grand Jury to ultimately determine the fate of the shooter.

First, listen to the actual 911 call and then I will discuss the event and…

Unenlightened in Law Enforcement

Monday, July 7th, 2008

In last week’s Monday Blog Post I shared jail house interviews with you from two men who killed for nothing more than cigarettes and pocket change as evidence of why you should have a gun, training, and a Concealed Weapons Permit so you can carry a gun EVERYWHERE YOU GO.

This week I want to share with you an equally strong, yet 180 degree opposite reason to secure a Concealed Weapon Permit.

I want to show you what the Police Chief of Washington DC had to say about the Supreme Court’s decision, ruling the Washington DC Gun Ban as unconstitutional…

Two Strong Reasons WHY You Should Buy a Gun, Get Training and Secure a Concealed Weapon Permit

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Here are two strong reasons why you should do everything you can to buy a gun, get training and secure a Concealed Weapon Permit so you can carry a gun with you everywhere you go.

The first is a jail house interview with a thug who recently shot two men simply because they didn’t have a cigarette to give him. That’s right. No cigarettes so he “went in dat mode” and killed them by shooting them repeatedly in the torso and head.

What you need to recognize is this can happen to anyone at any time. It could have happened…

What would you do if he told you and the teller he had a bomb?

Well here is the video news story of a man who was faced with exactly that situation.

Watch this video news story and then we will discuss what was right and wrong about his actions…

Follow-up to Interview With a Gunfighter

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Students often remark that our lectures alone are worth the price of the course because we tell you like it really is and do not sugar coat the subject.

Those who have attended Front Sight’s courses and received our very thought provoking lecture entitled, “Problems 2 and 3: the Criminal and Civil Liability Following a Shooting” will undoubtedly agree that the mainstream news story covering the self defense shooting of two home invaders reads like a script right out of our lectures.

If you missed last Monday’s post of Interview with a Gunfighter, you can see it here:

Interview with a Gunfighter

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Although I would not recommend that you ever sit down for an interview with the news media after killing two armed home invaders, the following unedited news video will teach you many important lessons.

The most important lessons you will glean from this personal, lethal encounter report include:

  • Mindset is everything. (Note what he said to himself when he made the decision to fight.)
  • Training is only second to mindset. (Note what he says about his training.)
  • Action always beats reaction. (As long as you hit with your first shot.)
  • In a Gunfight, Rule # 1 is HAVE A GUN. (Note what he…
