Front Sight Mail Bag: Response to Gun Training Report 6

Dr. Ignatius Piazza,

Report 6 is one of my favorites so far.

Mental preparedness will be a big issue for me in obtaining skill at arms.

There are excellent questions in this article that I will be giving more thought to.

Thank you.

Guns and God – a Few More Aspects to Consider

Dr. Piazza –

Let me tell you a story about my personal experience with guns in church.

A few years ago,  I had the opportunity to start a manufacturing plant in Guatemala, Central America, which I designed to be a commercially viable (no donations needed) job and skill training project to bring modern technology jobs to the  disadvantaged people of this struggling democracy.  The primary purpose was to benefit the people, but it was structured as a for-profit business venture so that it could be self-sustaining.  It worked without donations, and without government assistance.

Before moving to Guatemala with my wife and children, I familiarized myself with the risks.  I understood that we would be living in a region that was plagued by a protracted and violent civil war.  Upon arrival, protection of…

Front Sight Mail Bag: Response from Prof of Criminal Justice

Dr. Piazza,

After reading your blogs and training reports. And, after watching the video features on your website, I must admit that I’m impressed with both your philosophy on personal protection, and training tactics and techniques. Having trained thousands of citizens in deadly force with firearms, I believe that you have a program that is critical for the general public.

At first I was doubtful because I hadn’t heard of Front Sight and having been in the business of firearms education and training, I questioned your credibility.

I now believe your motives are moral and ethical and your training is technically and tactically on the mark.

Keep up the good work Dr. Piazza.

Front Sight Mail Bag: Who are we like?

Dr. Piazza

If you want to see what an aggressive ‘gun control’ program in a cultural context that is similar to that in the US produces then you only need to look at Great Britain. There they have sky rocketing violent crime rates and an ineffective criminal justice system coupled with a rapid erosion of civil rights such as the right to free speech, press, and the right to criticize the government.

In America we are, if anything, more inclined to violence than the British. So, effectively preventing self defense here would rather quickly plunge us into chaos. At that point the popular cry would be heard throughout the land to hang ALL politicians for treason!

More about guns and God – your responses, cont.

Dear Doctor,

I always enjoy your emails.  On this latest one you really hit the nail on the head (pun intended).  Have you ever seen the western movie “Shane”, starring Alan Ladd?  There is a line in the movie that says it exactly:  “A gun is just a tool and it is as good or as bad as the man using it.”

Enough said.

Dr. Piazza

Thank you for your e-mail about God and guns.  I have a carry permit, and I carry even while I’m at church. My pastor is all for it, he has said that GOD has given us a duty to protect our loved ones, and that means even in church.

I feel good about my abilities to hit what I aim at, and have taken a few courses where…

More about God and Guns

Dr. Piazza,

We teach a Concealed Weapons Permit class as a community service and to implement the word of our Lord as in the Bible, book of Luke chapter 22, verse 36.

Jesus of Nazareth tells his disciples to get swords (the arm of the day) and those who do not have swords should sell their cloaks and buy swords.

The context is that Jesus had sent his disciples out to spread his word and a couple of them had gotten mugged on the road. References are earlier in the book of Luke and in the book of Matthew.

Christian theology has always advocated self defense, defense of others, and defense of community.  Pacifism is a perverted deviant dogma that is not founded in Christianity.  I have always felt that pacifism is a rationalization…

Response to Monday Blog Post – Extermination or Explusion only Possible after Disarmament

Dr. Piazza,

This is a follow up to your post about “Gun Control Has Killed 170 Million People”.  We don’t have to look beyond our borders to find further evidence of your point.

Missouri established selective gun control in 1833 by forceably disarming the Mormon settlers.  This culminated in the imprisonment of the Mormon leaders, a genuine massacre of Mormon settlers at Haun’s Mill, and the issuance of an inhumane extermination order from the Governor of Missouri authorizing the expulsion or extermination of Mormons: “the Mormons must be treated as enemies, and must be exterminated or driven from the State.”

Subsequently, over 10,000 people were driven from their homes in the dead of winter.

A. Rick

Front Sight Mail Bag: Response to 4-day Defensive Handgun Course

Dr. Piazza,

My husband and I just completed the four day defensive handgun course.  I must tell you that it was an awesome experience.  We had a phenomenal instructional team.  These men were outstanding.

Having been in education for 20 years and a school vice-principal for 7 years I can assure you that these men deserve recognition.

I am very impressed and will recommend Front Sight to many of our associates.

Ignatius Piazza: God, Guns, and a 5 for 1

I have never quite understood why some people believe that God has no place for guns.

It must be that such people, through lack of knowledge and training, mentally attach such a negative personality to the gun that the thought of a pastor or church member carrying a gun to protect the flock offends their sensibilities.

A gun is an inanimate object. It is no different than any other tool.

A hammer in the hands of a carpenter can be used in a positive manner to drive a nail and build a church. The same hammer in the hands of a deranged violent criminal can be used to cave in your skull!

In the same context, a gun in the hands of a responsible, trained citizen is a tool that can be used in…
