Taking A Stand
April 23rd, 2007
IN RESPONSE TO OUR “GUN SCHOOL FOR TEACHERS” PRESS RELEASE:
Dr. Piazza,
I am glad someone is taking a stand on this. It needs to become an open debate all across our nation. I had an experience when I was 17 at my High School. A fellow student was having trouble in a class and did not like the teacher. He failed the class and was out for revenge. I saw him enter the building with a compound bow and a quiver of hunting arrows, he had made remarks about making the teacher look like a pin cushion. I had an old bolt action .22 in my truck. I grabbed it and ran after him. I caught up with him, and managed to talk him out of his plan. If I had not been armed he would not have listened to me, but I was able to use the rifle as persuasion instead of force. He got a tutor and retook the class and passed, no one was injured or even arrested, but the situation could have been a lot worse. The simple fact that I had a firearm changed the situation. If that happened today I would have been arrested just for having a firearm in my truck let alone carrying into a school. If our teachers were trained properly our schools would 100% safer and these instances or at least the number of people hurt or killed would be dropped significantly. Thanks for taking a stand on this and offering your support to our Teachers and ultimately our children and students.
Highest Regards
Mark
