Front Sight is Much More Than Just Firearms Training…

You can get basic gun training in almost every town or city in the US.  So why in the world do Front Sight students across the country to attend Front Sight?

Because Front Sight is more than just “firearms training.”

Read what a recent student has to say about his experience in a Front Sight course an what he is still thinking about several weeks after his Front Sight Experience…

I would like to thank you for creating Front Sight.

It has been two months since my first course, the 4 Day Defensive Handgun Course, and I am impressed how I continually think about and apply everything I learned at Front Sight throughout my life.

In one of your promotions you stated that we would be able to apply what we learned in all of our daily activities.  Prior to attending the course I figured it would be something I already knew such as, “perfect practice makes perfect”.

While that precept is true and was ingrained during our training and is applicable to my daily activities it goes much deeper. Let me explain.

I work in the construction field at this point in my life.

I work in an environment which always engenders potential danger. For example the worm-drive circular saw is widely considered the most dangerous piece of equipment in construction.  Now, as I handle this tool I think about our Front Sight instructors training us to “not put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to shoot”.

Remembering this rule and applying it to this tool absolutely eliminates its ability to “shoot” or cause damage until the operator is ready to cause an effect (the constructive damage of cutting wood).

A framing nailer is another great example.  In addition to keeping one’s finger off the trigger until ready to “shoot” there is the great training command delivered by our instructors, “do not point the muzzle of your weapon at anything you do not wish to destroy”.

Believe me, both of these tools can be very, very destructive to our bodies and applying these rules goes a very long way to reducing job-site injuries from these tools and more.

Then there is the application of the Color Code of Awareness.  Just applying this simple but powerful ability has gone miles in the way of spotting numerous conditions on job-sites which might have otherwise gone unnoticed and possibly caused unnecessary confusion and or harm.

I think daily about my experiences at our (I can say that as a Lifetime  Member, can’t I?) Front Sight training facility. The camaraderie, the minute by minute feeling of increased competence, the knowledge that I am now better suited to protect myself, family friends and fellow citizens, that I am safer on and off any worksite and so many other items cause me to remember Front Sight’s staff and Vision and I will always be appreciative and proud of being associated with Front Sight.

Thank you for changing my Life for always and for the better.

And please thank your staff always for me as well. They made me feel that I was respected but was expected to demonstrate a high level of skill and safety.  If I fell short I was corrected in a manner that made me feel that I was taught something rather than that I had been reprimanded.
