Front Sight Mail Bag: Government
March 29th, 2009
I am 38 years old and until this moment had not heard the various forms of government explained in such a clear and concise manner.? I have been very confused by right versus left when it comes to Facism and Naziism and I never “got” Anarchism.? I have heard both sides say it is the extreme of the other side.? So, I had given up on the idea of receiving a straight answer from an unbiased source.? Thank you for sharing this video.
I was anti-gun all my life, of the belief that guns kill and that there was no good use for any handgun-only sporting weapons.? And to top it off, I was anti-hunting, so even the sporting weapons were a source of anxiety for me.? It never occured to me that any kind of weapon may be needed to defend oneself-it just seemed like such an extreme reaction.? As though one could react extremely to the threat against their well being.? And even after the realization of the practical use of firearms in self defense, I was still of the mindset that there should be reasonable limitations to gun ownership.? I have come a very long way in my beliefs surrounding firearms.
I have learned quite bit just from receiving your newsletters.? And I am now gaining an even better understanding of a weapon as a practical tool.? And, if it is in fact a tool, why not have the best tool for whatever the task is?? Especially when considering that it is a right and not a privilege to own one.? There are no bans on exotic sports cars and no one looks at the owners of these machines as nut jobs, in spite of the fact that there isn’t a public road in the entire U.S. where it would be legal to peg the speedometer on one.? Yet, we are asked why a person would need an assault rifle or a large caliber weapon by the same people that make our laws and own Ferraris and other similar “transportation tools”.? Really, we are not asked why we would need an assault rifle. They are simply banned.? All the while these people never question their rights to own vehicles who’s clearly intended purpose is to drive above the speed limit-breaking the law and endangering the lives of others, why would anyone NEED to drive 150 MPH anyway?
Wow.? It took my 38 years to get something that basic and simple.? That just blows my mind.
I am looking forward to booking my training at your facility as soon as I am able to afford to do so and gaining an even more personalized and experiential based opinion regarding firearms.
Thank you for the enlightenment.? The more I learn about you, the more impressed I am.
