Front Sight Mail Bag: Firearms Aren’t Dangerous, Idiots Are
June 2nd, 2010
Dr. Piazza,
The offering from your organization should be government sponsored and every American citizen should be trained with the proper use of firearms while still in grade school. My father taught his boys how to properly fire, clean, and assemble their weapon when we were teenagers.
I was loading my own ammunition while I was growing and did not have time to watch TV or other things that were not relevant to being an American citizen. I am proud of what I was taught, even though I am different than most.
Parents need to be taught how to raise their children so the children will have other things to do other than watch TV and learn the wrong things. Firearms are not near as dangerous as the idiot who was raised incorrectly to utilize the item of defense in a wrong manner. I never had the concept in my mind to do things with a weapon that people see on TV or play video games with. If the mental energy spent of developing new methods related to show improper things on TV were devoted to medicine; we may have eliminated cancer, heart attacks, and other non healthful issues.
I bear arms, and am not afraid to use any thing necessary to protect myself. Thank you for the effort to train proper methods. I hope to soon ‘retire’ and look forward to being able to be part of returning this country to what so many people have died for and sacrificed easy times sitting at home saying bad things about the people who were determined to protect this beautiful country. I do not have the money you request for the training, but I think it is a beginning for all to learn properly…TV in not proper, and few will have the courage to join the USMC.
