Front Sight’s Monday Blog: Real Video of Why We Offer $159 Lifetime Memberships…

Every now and then a real life video brings together all the elements that best explains why I try to make Front Sight training available to every responsible American citizen at a price that anyone can afford.

What you are going to witness is a video that ends in favor of the homeowner in spite of a well-intentioned, but misguided 911 operator giving very bad advice; a homeowner who just purchased a gun, having had no training in proper mindset, marksmanship or tactics; and a crazy, drugged-out criminal who demonstrated extreme persistence to invade a home.

Here are my comments:

Unless the threat has ended and the police have arrived on the scene NEVER put your gun down. The 911 operator telling the homeowner to put her gun down at the most crucial time in the home invasion was advise that could have killed the homeowner. Good thing the homeowner listened to her gut and not the 911 operator.
If you do not have a gun, GET ONE. As this video shows, you never know when you are going to need a gun to protect yourself.
Just having a gun is not enough. You need to be trained.
Training needs to include the mental preparation involved in making the proper decision when (and when not) to shoot AND the gun handling, marksmanship, and tactics to give you the ability to hit your opponent with your first shot(s) to stop him in his tracks should you be under attack. This woman was very lucky that her lack of gun handling, marksmanship and tactics did not result in her demise when she was confronted with a criminal who was either too crazy or too drugged to recognize he was shot, and kept coming back for more.
Your training also needs to move you mentally to a point of understanding that there is no shame or remorse in defending your life against anybody, whether you know them or not, should you be faced with someone breaking into your home—especially after you present a weapon, demand they leave, and fire shots at them.
I wish the woman in this video had experienced Front Sight’s training PRIOR to her lethal confrontation as she would not have been as rattled throughout her ordeal and would have understood, during the confrontation and when it was all over, that she did the right thing. Fortunately for her she did not listen to the 911 operator and her lack of marksmanship in her first volley of shots did not result in the loss of her life.
