Today is the anniversary of one of the most significant days in American history, if not THE most significant day.
Today is the 238th anniversary of the American Revolution.
On this day 238 years ago, over 700 British grenadiers and light infantry marched to the towns of Lexington and Concord to confiscate weapons from the Colonists, but were met by approximately seventy Minute Men at Lexington Green. A shot rang out, the “shot heard round the world” and when the fighting stopped, eight Colonists were killed, ten wounded, and the “assault weapons” of that day were confiscated.
The British then continued to the North Bridge in Concord but this time were confronted by over 300 armed Colonists. The Colonists, although severely outnumbered used deliberate aimed fire to strike four of the eight British officers and five soldiers causing the British to break ranks and run.
As the British retreated, more Colonists joined the fight from behind trees, stone walls, and houses, only appearing long enough to fire, then dropping out of sight to reload. The British troops endured an 18 mile gauntlet of fire as they retreated, throwing down equipment, arms, and even loot as they fled back to Boston.
The British sustained 273 casualties; the Colonist 93, and the American Revolution was born.
Six bloody years later, the British surrendered at the battle of Yorktown and the American Revolution was won.
Americans were never more free than the day after we won our independence from a suppressive government.
Over the last 283 years, as the government we created “For the People and By the People” has grown into a massive, self-serving, liberty-stealing machine. I wonder what the government will do to trigger the NEXT shot heard round the world.
Think it can’t happen again?
It will happen again.
When 10% of the American population (31 million armed and trained Americans) collectively think that they have had enough and are willing to unite to remind our government officials that THEY SERVE US, not the other way around, we will once again enjoy the freedom our forefathers bled and died to win for us.
Until the time we are once again willing to stand our ground, we will continue to suffer more and more losses of freedom and liberty as government officials who fear and loathe those they are elected to serve, attack us like this…
Ask yourself, where would you be today if the Colonists at Lexington and Concord, confronted by 700 British troops and hearing British Marine Major Pitcairn command, “Lay down your arms, ye rebels, and disperse!” had actually surrendered their arms?
