Front Sight Blog: Concealed Carry Drops Chicago Murder Rate and Call to Arm Military Personnel on Bases Being Heard!

My New Year’s Resolution is to be as pro-active as possible in spreading the truth about the importance of our cherished Second Amendment, while exposing the liars, whores and thieves who conspire to strip us of our freedoms, and to continue to provide you and the rest of America with the absolute greatest opportunities to become armed and trained.

I firmly believe our future, and the future of our children and grandchildren, depends on it.

As part of my New Year’s Resolution, I will do my very best to deliver to you hard-hitting and entertaining blogs. You can help greatly, by doing two things for me…

With that in mind, here is the truth that the Gun Grabbers in Chicago who have kept Chicago residents helpless victims for so long, and the Gun Grabbers in our government who have done the same to military personnel on military bases, want to hide…

The Chicago Sun Times reported that for the first three months of 2014, Chicago has seen the fewest number of homicides since 1958 — six times fewer than this time in 2013, and 55 fewer than this time in 2012. Police are reporting that the murder rate for the first quarter of the year is the lowest it’s been in more than 50 years. It is no coincidence that this drop in homicides is directly related to the concealed carry law passed in Illinois last year.

This drop in violent crime and homicides in Chicago, after responsible citizens were allowed to carry concealed weapons, follows the same pattern that has been seen in every city that shifts the balance of power back into the hands of the law abiding– including what used to be the Murder Capital of the United States, Washington DC. When the residents of Washington DC were allowed to own firearms, their violent crime and murder rates which had been steadily climbing for 27 years, dropped dramatically, leaving Chicago to hold the dubious title of Murderville, USA.

Now that Chicago residents are able to defend themselves and have leveled the playing field against criminals, the violent crime and murder rate will continue to plummet as it has in every city that allows its citizens to carry concealed firearms. The big questions is which “Gun Free Zone” AKA “Helpless Victim Zone” city will become the next Murder Capital of the US?

The drop in crime in cities where citizens are carrying a concealed weapon once again proves that society is safer when criminals don’t know who is armed. In the wake of another Ft. Hood shooting and the pressure from you forwarding my blog to everyone you know, we are now seeing a call on the government to treat military bases just like any other city and allow citizens and military personnel to carry concealed on military bases. There is NO REASON why military bases, and particularly Ft. Hood would not also be safer against psych-drug-fueled madmen, criminals and terrorists should they ever attempt violence on a military base.

Calls rise after Fort Hood to allow carrying firearms on base

Fort Hood may seem worlds apart from Sandy Hook Elementary School, but they have at least two things in common: Both have been victimized recently by horrific mass shootings, and neither allows the carrying of firearms.

Critics of gun-free zones say that’s not a coincidence. In the aftermath of Wednesday’s shooting at Fort Hood, the second in five years, calls are growing for the military to allow base personnel to arm themselves.

Rep. Steve Stockman, Texas Republican, renewed his effort last week for House members to support his “Safe Military Bases Act,” which would repeal the ban on bringing weapons on base. Currently only base-security personnel are permitted to carry arms in most cases.

“This is the third mass shooting on a military base in five years, and it’s because our trained soldiers aren’t allowed to carry defensive weapons,” said Mr. Stockman in a statement. “Anti-gun activists have turned our military bases into soft targets for killers.”

Fort Hood was scarred by tragedy for the second time when Spc. Ivan Lopez, 34, killed three and wounded 16 after opening fire Wednesday with a .45-caliber pistol he smuggled onto the base. He took his own life after being confronted by an armed security officer.

Rep. Roger Williams, Texas Republican, whose district includes the base, told the Burleson Star that the gunman might have been stopped sooner had more people on the base been allowed to carry weapons.

“If they had been armed, they probably could have stopped this action, said Mr. Williams. “These are the most highly trained people we have with weapons. They are returning from overseas war zones. They shouldn’t have to return to their homes — on our military bases — and face a war zone.”

Military bases are becoming increasingly popular targets for shootings, but so far the Pentagon has stood firm on its policy limiting who may carry weapons on base.

After Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan shot and killed 13 people at Fort Hood in 2009, the Defense Department examined its policies on concealed carry, and again after the deadly September shooting at the Washington Navy Yard, said Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Damien Pickart.

“DoD does not support arming all personnel. We hold this position for many reasons,” said Mr. Pickart in an email. “Some of the top reasons are safety concerns, the prohibitive costs of use-of-force and weapons training, qualification costs, and compliance with various weapons screening laws (for example, the Lautenberg Amendment).”

“However, DoD guidance does provide flexibility to Component and Installation Commanders to arm additional personnel based on necessity as long as they can meet the requirements of Department of Defense Directive 5210.56,” said Mr. Pickart.

That directive states that arming military personnel with firearms “shall be limited and controlled.”

“Qualified personnel shall be armed when required for assigned duties and there is reasonable expectation that DoD installations, property, or personnel lives or DoD assets will be jeopardized if personnel are not armed,” says the directive.

Steven Bucci, former commander of the Army 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces, and now with the Heritage Foundation, said he sees problems with allowing military or civilian personnel to carry firearms on base.

“I just get very concerned about some of these comments,” said Mr. Bucci. “Fort Hood is the size of a small city. There are all kinds of people there — do you really want everyone around there carrying a weapon? And trust me, I’m a big Second Amendment advocate.”

Mr. Bucci added that military installations “probably have less crime than anywhere else, but when you do have something happen, it’s pretty spectacular.”

That position was echoed by Adm. Michael Mullen, former chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, on Sunday’s “Meet the Press.”

“I’m not one, as someone who’s been on many, many bases and posts, that would argue for arming anybody that’s on base,” said Mr. Mullen.

Even so, Rep. Michael McCaul, the Texas Republican who heads the House Homeland Security Committee, told “Fox News Sunday” that he wants to revisit the issue.

“It doesn’t take very long to wound and kill a large number of people,” said Mr. McCaul. “I think that would be a deterrent, number one, and number two, a way to have a quick response to any sort of shooter that’s come on these bases.”

1. There is ONE and ONLY ONE common denominator in ALL of the murderous rampages over the last 20 years and that common denominator is PSYCH DRUGS.
2. The Army issues psych drugs like they are dolling out candy bars. 16% of all service men are sent into combat with a rucksack full of psych drugs. When they return to the US, 37% of our young men and women are diagnosed by a psychiatrist as having “Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder” and given more suicide and violence inducing psych drugs. Pharmaceutical companies are making billions of dollars in profits at tax payer expense and our government is creating a suicide epidemic!
3. As a result of the over-prescription of these suicidal drugs, 23 veterans and military personnel kill themselves EVERY DAY. 4. The Army puts a rifle in our sons’ hands, violence and suicide inducing drugs in their ruck sack, and then when they come home, slaps them with a PTSD diagnosis, gives them more psych drugs and disarms everyone on our military bases, leaving them defenseless against the monsters the Army is creating with their psych drugs. OUR GOVERNMENT IS MORE INSANE than the murderers they are creating.
5. And how stupid does the Army spokesman in the video think we are when asked if the gun ban on military bases should be lifted? His answer, “No, I don’t think soldiers should have concealed weapons on base. We have law enforcement agents and trained professionals and I don’t endorse carrying concealed.” Really? So your soldiers who you send into combat on foreign soil are not trained professionals, worthy to carry a handgun when they come back home? SHAME ON YOU!
6. The Army created this problem with their over-prescription of psych drugs. They don’t trust their own people or their own training of their people to carry a gun on base, and then leave them helpless to be murdered because the police can’t respond any sooner than 15 minutes.
7. Here is what needs to happen to turn this around. STARTING TODAY, DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS ENLIST IN THE MILITARY until ALL United States military personnel are allowed to have a concealed weapon or open carry weapon on their person when on US military bases, at home and abroad.
8. START THIS BOYCOTT TODAY! Forward this to everyone you know and ask them to do the same. If you make this go viral, all branches of the military will see an immediate drop in the number of young men and women walking into recruiting offices nationwide and the number of enlistments per day will plummet. It won’t take the government long to figure out WHY there is a drop in enlistments, especially after this information becomes common knowledge in every home across America. PASS THIS ALONG. STOP THE INSANITY!
