Front Sight Mailbag: I Was Not Planning to Come to Front Sight…

Dear Dr. Piazza,
I wasn’t planning to go to Front Sight with my husband and daughters. I didn’t plan to conceal carry like they were and honestly, we just didn’t have the money. But it became an extended family trip through Patriot Academy and they convinced me to go. Honestly, there are few skills I’ve learned in life in which looking back I was so completely grateful I had learned. This 4-day handgun course took me from not knowing a thing about the gun in my hand to comfortable knowing I could defend myself and my family if it came down to it and knowing how to fix it if it malfunctions. I trained with a double-action hand-me-down that tore my hands up, but the instructors were patient, extremely encouraging, and made the whole week enjoyable. I’m now excited to come back someday and train with a gun that I would actually carry. I think my main issue with guns, in general, was that I wasn’t confident I could handle a weapon properly in the moment of need and now I know I was right. But this course changed everything. If I hear of anyone that currently carries or plans to carry, Front Sight will get my highest recommendation. You don’t know what you don’t know until you’ve been here!
