Front Sight Mailbag: Gun Instruction that is Second to None

Dear Dr. Piazza,
I just attended a 3 Day Defensive Handgun course this past weekend at Front Sight Nevada. I wanted you to know about the exceptional time I had there. The first day was specifically oriented to safety and getting us shooting in a safe and organized manner. We discussed the 4 Universal Firearms Safety Rules, we were then instructed on the safety rules and safe practices on the range, followed by loading and unloading instructions, chamber check, grip, stance and started shooting at targets. As the day progressed we learned more and performed practice drills and the importance of dry practice and how to safely practice at home. The instruction was second to none, the attention to safe weapons handling and the friendly experienced staff really encouraged our group as we progressed. Day 2 was more instruction as we learned about the 3 secrets to accuracy, reloading, types of malfunctions and safe clearance of malfunctions with almost all of it instructed with presentation from the holster. On our final day we performed multiple shooting drills using a timer to induce stress and concluded with a skills assessment which ultimately determined our accuracy and our need for more training and then we did some fun shooting activities that afternoon. I know you have an interest in Firearms, perhaps defensive skills and especially safety related to firearms and wanted to encourage you to attend a class at Front Sight Nevada.
