Roy Taylor grew up in White Pine County, Nevada and from his description it really was the wild, wild west.

He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in accounting. He then served in the Air Force as a navigator for 5 1/2 years. Roy then entered and graduated from medical school at the University of Utah.

He retired two years ago after practicing family medicine for 45 years. He practiced all 45 years in Bountiful and Salt Lake City.

Doc Taylor first attended Front Sight in November of 2007. Roy has been back 23 times to Front Sight. Each time he has attended the handgun courses, not because he only likes the handgun courses, but because he is dedicated to bringing others to Front Sight and finds it easier to get people to attend their first handgun course than the other 50 classes we offer.

Roy has never attended Front Sight without bringing a significant number of family, friends and acquaintances with him. If someone will listen, he will tell them about Front Sight. Some say Doc Taylor will tell them about Front Sight even if they don’t want to listen! When Roy was still practicing medicine, his nurse would get aggravated with him because he would often talk to his patients about Front Sight, thus getting behind schedule. Doc Taylor is my kind of doctor!

Doc Taylor figured out that people who might not be comfortable attending Front Sight would come if they were personally invited to attend with a group. As a result Doc Taylor brought groups every year since 2007 on the 2nd or 3rd week of April.

Doc Taylor has brought nearly a thousand people to Front Sight! Thanks to Doc Taylor, the weekends in April have always been magical at Front Sight.

Doc always organizes a short non-denominational, patriotic service on Sunday, following class. It is a highlight for many and often brings fellow students to tears. Front Sight allows for this type of activity to still take place in America.

It can be difficult to explain the Front Sight Experience, but Doc Taylor has a way of getting others to trust him about Front Sight and I have seen people attend Front Sight who I thought would NEVER attend, just because they believed and trusted in Doc Taylor’s word. Many people who have attended with Doc Taylor swear the training has changed their lives. Well, that IS the Front Sight Experience! Doc Taylor understands it and promotes it better than any other member we have ever had.

Doc Taylor is especially passionate about the mission of Front Sight. He will go as far as to say, “If everyone in America would attend Front Sight if would literally save our country.” This is my belief as well and why I love Doc Taylor so much.

Doc Taylor always expressed a deep appreciation for Front Sight. He loves the instructors. He is thankful for the knowledge that others gain from attending Front Sight, not only about firearms and safety, but also the self-confidence and inner power that is gained from the comfort of skill at arms.

I want to thank Doc Roy Taylor in a manner that only I can offer and in a manner that I know Doc Taylor would appreciate most.
