Front Sight Mail Bag: Turning the Situation Around Completely.
September 29th, 2014
Dear Dr. Piazza.
I want to compliment your staff on the amazing way they treated my wife. I didn’t realize how terrified Jenifer was of guns; I knew she was nervous but I didn’t think it would hit her as emotionally hard as it did. A lot of things were adding to her anxiety: the gun itself, being hit by brass, seeing people move doing after action drills, thinking that if she performed the malfunction drill wrong the gun would blow-up; and to some extent dealing with the emotions of being threatened by an abusive neighbor with a gun when she was a child. She was crying and asking to leave by lunch time on day 2, which also meant I would leave with her.
The way your staff was able to help her work through her anxieties exceeded all my expectations. In the end, your instructors were able to turn the whole situation around to where she not only came back to finish the course but as we were leaving at the end of day 4, she said that she would even come back again.
